My family. Loves. Star Wars. I mean we really love Star Wars.
A common send off to school usually includes, “May the Force be with you!” (and an eye roll) as my kids run down for the bus.
My husband’s closet has two sides…Brooks Brothers and vintage Darth Vader t-shirts. We have been waiting for the new movie with much anticipation, and it could not have come at a better time.
One of my daughters has ulcerative colitis, and she has been having a bit of a rough time. We are not opposed to Western therapies, but the next class of drugs was looming in the background after a recent flare.
I decided to do what I know best – I retreated to my Inner Kitchen – and I looked for a way to help her heal with food. I let every doctor I could find know that we were looking for a food based clinical trial, and a dear friend found one for us.
We are now in week 3 of the food based clinical trial. I am not going to lie and say that adding and eliminating foods, measuring portions in grams, and navigating another food plan in my house is easy. However, I will say that I feel fortunate to have the tools, knowledge, and support to embark on the challenge.
Most importantly, my daughter feels better and that the Force is now with her.
